Customer Reviews:

Tracfone upgrade even better [Posted on 2008-07-28]
I upgraded last month to the W370, and am very pleased. Volume is great, I can hear other calls in noisy rooms and the rings are loud even in my pocket. Downloadable ring tones make this a nice upgrade. I dont need the camera or the FM radio. My only request would be that the usb port be enabled to allow me to put my own ringtones on the phone. Also would like to be able to add a memory card upgrade, but overall a great phone for $29.99! I would recommend for anyone who wants a good solid flip phone.

W370 takes forever to find network [Posted on 2008-07-29]
What a pain. Every time I turned on the Motorola W370 from the time I turn it on to the time it finds the network no matter where I am, it takes a good 1 minute 45 seconds! It never got better - no matter when or where I turned it on, it would take that long before I could make a call. I cannot live with that and complained and complained to Tracfone. Yesterday, after nearly a month going back and forth, I finally was okayed for the option of changing to a comparable phone with them. I had even replaced the SIM card that they sent, but that did not work. They finally concluded that even though this phone is recommended for my zip code, that it just does not work well for me in this zip code.

I haven't decided which phone to get yet - they offered the LG225 or the Motorola W376g. Who knows if the same problem would happen again - I hope not! I would still be using my old Tracfone (Motorola 120 - no SIM card), old-fashioned, but the antenna fell after 3 years of use, no idea where all the parts went. Tracfone no longer supported that model so it was put to rest. But what a fantastic phone for me - never had a problem with it and it was a rebuilt one and free with the units I bought. As soon as I turned it on the network came right in. I haven't moved so it is strange that the Motorola W370 takes as long as it does to find the network. This is NOT normal. Otherwise the W370 was fine but I only use my cell phone to call out from when I am not home, but generally I am home.

Be so glad when this whole affair is finished. It takes its toll on your time and patience.

Best pre-paid cell phone on the market [Posted on 2008-08-27]
I had had a pre-paid Freedom phone for years. When it needed expensive repairs I looked for a comparable one and, after reading the excellent reviews in Amazon, and extensive research, chose the W370. What a buy!! If you bought it with one of the Tracfone plans ($20 for 3mths), and signed up to use an Amazon Visa card, the cost was $9.00!! It was very easy to activate, works like a dream, and is by far the best cell phone in the field today. We now have two of them and are very well pleased!! It works almost anywhere in the entire US with no fading.

I've had only positive experiences with this [Posted on 2008-09-06]
I long resisted getting a cell phone simply because I don't like making myself available to the entire world at all times. I like being a bit inaccessible. But too many incidents where having a cell phone arose and so I decided to get a Tracfone package with the Motorola W370. I've had absolutely no problems like catalogued in some of the other reviews. I do live in Chicago, which like most major cities is heavily blanketed with relays for cell phones. Not once have I not been able to get service (except, of course, when the EL goes underground).

I've had no troubles of any kind with my phone as well. I have less than no interest in some of the features that some reviewers regret not having, like a camera.

All in all, my experience has been very positive. Obviously, one's experience with the phone may depend on where one lives. I will add that my father has a Tracfone in Little Rock, Arkansas and has had no problems and a good friend in Ithaca, New York loves his Tracfone. So while I know some have had problems, no one that I know has. I will add that I love how inexpensive the service is relative to other providers. So far it looks like I will be spending about $20 a month for my cell phone. At home I use Vonage, which comes after taxes to around $25 a month. $45 total for both a landline and cell phone seems really reasonable to me.

Good Basic Phone [Posted on 2008-09-27]
This W370 replaced a 2 1/2 year old Net 10 Motorola flip phone and the menus and graphics are identical so my learning curve has been pretty much flat. It is a handsome, (apparently) well built unit and the shape fits well to the side of the head and makes thumb-dialing possible. I find that the smaller and thinner these phones get the more difficult they are for large hands to hold on to. Oh well. The number pad requires more pressure than I expected but I suppose I'll get used to it. Sound quality is excellent. All in all, a good basic cell phone without bells or whistles.
