Good Price, Good-Looking, Works inconsistently  [Posted on 2007-12-13]
This accesory definitely does increase the signal somewhat, but a bit too inconsistently. Just bought this passive, non-powered Shark Fin Antenna to use for my house within inland that's slightly out of range of my cellphone co's access point. I figured if it's supposed to work for a car window, it'll work for house window so I obviously mounted this thing as high as possible.

Before I would have to get very close to the window door, facing the appropriate direction where the signal would pick up or completely go outside into the balcony that the door opens to.

Now I can get a little bit farther away three or four feet and sometimes five feet from the window and pick up a bar or two, however a bit inconsistently. I still pick up signals and also lose signals at a place in the room where it previously never picked up a signal.

For a non-amplified passive unit, I guess I can't complain that much since it was good deal less than the retail of $39 bucks. A slightly pleased and slightly disappointed at the same time. I don't know, maybe I need more than one in my room.
