Great Product, Well Worth the Value [Posted on 2008-12-31] The Bracketron Nav-Mat is a great product that can be used with any GPS. It's has a circular weighted and padded frame wrapped around a plastic smooth surface for the suction cup of your GPS Windshield bracket. Since it relies on the GPS Windshield bracket that comes with your GPS, it should be compatible with any GPS system.
It has stayed on my dashboard whenever I have used it over the last month, which included a recently 25 hour drive I went for vacation. When I am not using my GPS, I usually put my GPS in my glove compartment and stick this Bracketron underneath my seat.
Amazon gave a good price, so I bought 2 of these and gave one to my parents. Great value overall and very satisfied.
Worked well, but rivet snapped after a couple days [Posted on 2009-01-01] It works great, but I'm a bit concerned about its durability. After only a couple of days of use, one of the rivets (used to attach the smooth base to the weighted sandbag part) popped off, so that corner of the base can pull up now. This can be seen when taking turns, etc., as the entire thing will shift a bit. It hasn't fallen off the dash yet, but I'm afraid it will. I will be asking Amazon to exchange it for a new one.
Does what it claims [Posted on 2009-01-02] I think if you are a Garmin user, you will like the Garmin product better. I saw my sister's Garmin friction dash pad over the holidays and it just seemed a little better. We have to put our suction cup the Bracketron and it comes loose every now and then. On the Garmin, the thing is built in and your unit attaches directly to the friction pad. However, we really liked the price of the Bracketron and it does NOT move around on the dash. Overall a good product.
Not for the TomTom 730 [Posted on 2009-01-03] TomTom 730 will point at the sky. The tall ring on this mount combined with the short windshield mount on the TomTom 730 makes getting a reasonable screen angle impossible. Great quality, doesn't slide, but for newer TomToms look elsewhere. I'm going to try the Gilsson UBM.
Meet The Immovable Object [Posted on 2009-01-03] The Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad (God, what a mouthful) is a great product, especially at such a low price. It is a far more stable platform on which to mount a GPS such as the Tom Tom One XL, than the windshield of the car. With only a minimal amount of room to place this gem, it is as stable as the Rock of Gibraltar. I was concerned about it's stability before I used it, but after a 400 mile trip to Southern Colorado, and back, I'm convinced. The only time it shifted position was when I took it off my dashboard. Also, there was no visible jitter when mounted on the Nav-Mat. There was near-constant jitter when I had my GPS mounted to the windshield. I would recommend this unit to anyone having a GPS unit that fits this neat little gizmo!
