Speaker volume an issue [Posted on 2008-10-01] Just go the Z9i yesterday and charged it up overnight. While driving today I called a friend. Could hardly hear him! I ran the volume all the way up, but max volume didn't help.
I also found that the volume controls on my Blackberry Pearl are disabled when connected to the Z9i, so you can only use the Z9i volume controls. My old Jabra let you use with it's volume controls or the Pearl's, so that's a disappointment.
After disconnecting the Z9i the volume slider on the screen of the Pearl did not work although the speaker volume did change. I have to remove/reinsert the batter to get the slider to work again.
BlueAnt support says "there have been a couple of issues reported with low audio when connected to a Blackberry." I've tried their suggestions and the firmware update, nothing helped. I will call them tomorrow but it's looking like I will return the unit.
It's plenty loud in the office, but anywhere noise is higher (even in a car) it's not loud enough.
Great, but poor connections [Posted on 2008-10-01] CRYSTAL clear, when it's connected. It has a habbit of dropping my phones, that's my only complaint. If they didn't skip on the BT itself, this headset would be perfect.
Comfortable,
LOVE connecting 2 phones at once,
Voice isolation is SUPERB! OMG, crowded colledge hall, and a voice rocognition computerized hot line was able to understand me. On a phone without BlueAnt's isolation, the same hotline has trouble if I so much as shuffle my feet.
Stylish!
Decent battery life (shorter with 2 phones connected, but still at least as long as any other headset I've owned.)
I like it! [Posted on 2008-10-02] The BlueAnt headset fits comfortably, and for me, that is difficult. I've used several headsets and always come back to the Jabra that wraps around the ear and has the earpiece going into the ear canal. The Jabra fits and stays on fairly well, but after a few hours the back of my ear begins to hurt. The BlueAnt wraps around the ear as well but the earpiece does not go into the ear canal. It stays on better than the Jabra, and my brother tells me he can hear me perfectly well, as I can hear him. The only fault I see is that I hit the on/off/answer button too often when putting it on, which I hope will stop as I get more accustomed to it. It is lighter and stays on better, and fits more comfortably around the ear so no pain, even after several hours. AND it is cheaper than the Jabra. AND it does not get tangled with my earrings! Yep, I like it!
Sounds Decent on Other End, To Soft on My End [Posted on 2008-10-03] I've had the Z9i for over a month now and have used it quite a bit. The size and weight is very nice. I am able to wear it for long periods of time without too much discomfort. Sometimes the middle back of my ear begins to hurt and this maybe because I've only used the metal ear loop. Someday I'll try the other but have been afraid I would break it.
When I've left voicemail for myself using the device the voice has been generally good and background noise has been reduced. However, some of those noises are reduced to sqeaks or other types of noises that I do not know how to describe but some of my callers have reported to be annoying.
While I am generally pleased with the product I find that the volume of the device is far below, even at maximum levels, to hear well in even a relatively low noise environment. I can make this better by manually pressing the device further into my ear but since this essentially rests on your ear instead of fitting inside, the benefit is only temporary.
All in all, I was happier, on my end, with my Plantronics 510. I could wear it all day in total comfort and the selectable ear piece provided a more focused delivery into my ear.
If I could replace the ear piece on the Z9i with something that would fit and stay better in my ear, I would probably be just as happy with it.
Excellent, sensitive and clear [Posted on 2008-10-04] I purchased this after mistakenly buying a Jabra 2010, via which my wife could not hear anything I said. I debated between this and the jawbone, but the $60 differential swayed me, and I am thrilled I made the right decicion: this BlueAnt Z9i is crisp, clear, and comfortable. It links perfectly with my iPhone 3G, the speaker is brilliant, the microphone (double mike) is very sensitive, but does not generate distortion, the battery life is very long, and the earbud/hook combo is very comfortable, indeed. And it has a nifty USB plug for quick recharging from my Macbook. An excellent accessory for any phone, I'm sure. I would buy a BlueAnt product again in a heartbeat. Well done, Mates!
