Bad Plan, Bad Service, Bad Network [Posted on 2006-04-27] While my cell phone useage has not really increased, my phone bills since switching to Cingular are through the ROOF! The reception is poor, i can't even use it in my house in NW DC and my phone gets terrible interference noises. It's going to be cheaper to pay a cancellation penalty than to keep this till the contract runs out. Very disappointing
Cold Customer Care [Posted on 2006-06-07] I had my cell phone STOLEN and Cingular could care less - would not waive the penalty for 'breaking the contract' of $200, would happily "replace" my phone with an upgrade for $200, or I could just keep paying until the plan was up, with no penalty, while my service is suspended (seeing as how I have no phone!!) - either way, it costs $$$ and Cingular is happy! While I am NOT.
Love My Cingular [Posted on 2007-03-17] I've been with Cingular for 7 years and my billing has always been accurate
(I've heard horror stories about other providers). I live in MD close to
the PA line and found when I went north I was in Roam-they accomodated my question about this by adding "no roam" to my 39.99 plan at no charge. When I was getting billed for Internet charges (I do not use the phone for that) Cingular immediately removed the charges and put a block on that so
I couldn't accidently go on-line. Every month for 7 years my bill has been
the same, within a few pennies. And twice when I forgot to mail my payment I got a $5 charge - but they did not just cut off the service.
V3xx Motorola Razr [Posted on 2007-06-27] The phone was nice but it or the service dropped called almost every time I made a phone call. Also, it would not end a call when I pressed end. You would have to shut the phone off, or it would occasionally end if you pressed end enough times. I was very unhappy with the phone.
Slow, but the Amazon price is better [Posted on 2007-07-03] Because of earlier reviews I was paranoid that my phone service would be cut off when I bought my phone through Amazon. The Amazon price was about $70 less than directly through Cingular, so I decided it was worth being out of touch a few days. I sent an email to all my friends and family warning them that they might not be able to reach me until the new phone arrived. As it turned out, there was nothing to worry about! My phone service was not cut off and I was easily able to transition my addresses in my old SIM card to the new phone. The phone took a good 2-3 weeks to get to me, but in my case it was well worth the price.
